01 / Getting started

Install & open the panel

From the signed package to your first launch in Adobe.

3D Carousel Studio is a shared panel for Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro. It builds animated scenes from photographs and videos, then renders a video you can use in your project.

Available for Windows and macOS. Supports Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro, starting with the 2025 releases.

Download and install a ZXP installer

To install the extension, first download and install one ZXP installer. Choose either of the following programs and select the download for your operating system.

Install your chosen program before continuing with the included .zxp extension package.

Before you install

Control / optionWhat it doesHow to use it
Adobe hostSupports the 2025 and 2026 releases of Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro.Use a supported host and restart it after installation.
Windows / macOS packageEach operating system has its own signed ZXP. The macOS package contains Intel and Apple Silicon media tools.Install the package for your operating system.
Panel sizeThe panel needs at least 800 × 560 pixels. A larger docked area makes the controls and preview easier to read.Resize the panel or float it in a larger window if controls feel crowded.
Source mediaScenes reference the original photos, videos and textures.Keep your source files in a stable folder throughout editing and rendering.
Internet accessLicense activation, online verification, update checks and sending support reports use the connection.Connect when activating or checking for an update.

Install, then launch

  1. Download the signed .zxp package for Windows or macOS.
  2. Close Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro before installing or updating.
  3. Open your chosen ZXP installer.
  4. Drag and drop the included .zxp file into the installer window. If the installer asks you to select a file, select the same package.
  5. Follow the installer’s prompts and wait until installation is complete.
  6. Reopen Adobe After Effects or Adobe Premiere Pro. In either application, choose Window → Extensions → 3D Carousel Studio.
  7. Complete license activation if the activation dialog appears, then allow the first scene preview to load.

02 / Product access

Activate & manage your license

Activate once for both Adobe hosts, inspect access and release a device slot.

Activate your license

Activate your license: enter your own key, then choose Activate. The guide uses an example key only.
  1. Open the installed panel. If this computer is not activated, the Activate your license dialog appears.
  2. Paste your purchased key into License key.
  3. Choose Activate, or press Enter. Wait while the panel displays Verifying your license....
  4. When verification succeeds, the dialog closes and the editor opens. One license unlocks both After Effects and Premiere Pro.

You can activate the license on up to two computers. Using After Effects and Premiere Pro on the same computer uses that computer’s activation. The activation dialog must be completed before you can enter the editor.

03 / A complete walkthrough

Your first carousel

Create a collection from your photos and videos, then export it.

Build the collection

  1. Templates: choose Classic Arc. Select a template first, because changing templates resets the presentation controls.
  2. Media: choose Replace All Media and select the photos or videos you want to use. This replaces the built-in demo collection. Add Media appends instead.
  3. Preview Format: choose 16:9 for a landscape result or 9:16 for a vertical result.
  4. Media: select a card. Start with Portrait · 3:4 and Fill. Use Fit if you need the whole source visible. Keep Image Zoom at 100% initially.
  5. Motion: choose Pause on Each Card and a readable Total Duration. Start with a Transition of around 1 second; check that each product has time to settle.
  6. Design: adjust Visible Cards and Card Spacing. Choose the card material and frame. In Background, choose Texture and load your background image if desired.
  7. Camera: use Camera Zoom and Pan X/Y to keep the collection inside the output frame. Preview from beginning to end.
  8. Save Scene: save the editable scene. Use Scene Name in Export to give it a recognizable name.
  9. Export: choose resolution, frame rate and output format. Choose Save As…, then Export Video.
  10. After rendering, choose Open Folder or the Adobe placement button. The exported video is a rendered result; continue editing the carousel through its saved scene.

Why the controls differ

A cube, book, rail slider and free orbit use different geometry. The interface shows the settings that make sense for the active composition. In/Out styles and motion modes are also filtered by the template. A disabled control carries a hint when appropriate.

Control / optionWhat it doesHow to use it
Free cardsOffer Original, portrait, landscape and square Card Aspect choices.Choose the shape that matches your media or intended layout.
Circle / cube / Bubble Conveyor / Spin Through StackUse template-controlled square proportions.Crop the content with Fill/Fit, Image Zoom and position.
Photo Wall / Horizontal DrumUse template-controlled portrait proportions.Use placement controls rather than trying to change the locked aspect.
Photo CubeCamera Orbit and Camera Tilt are fixed; framing and dolly movement remain available.Use Design tilts/rotation for geometry and Camera framing for composition.
Closed ringEdge Fade is unavailable when both curvature and visible arc form a complete closed ring.Open the ring or reduce Visible Arc if you need faded ends.
Book Spread / Radial AlbumUse page-specific controls and media pairing.Read the album and book notes in Layout & card shape.
06 / Build the card collection

Media: photos & placement

Remove SelectedRemoves the selected cards from the scene. This changes the scene collection; it does not delete your original source files.
Reset to DemoLoads the built-in demo collection.Confirm the replacement when prompted.

The current image import limit is 64 MB per image. Very large collections can exceed GPU texture limits even when each individual file is below that size. Texture Quality Balanced can reduce the texture load.

Card Aspect and Image Placement

Selected Media contains the crop preview, aspect, placement, position, zoom, rotation and replacement tools.
Control / optionWhat it doesHow to use it
OriginalUses the original media proportion where the template allows it.Choose this to respect the source aspect ratio.
Portrait · 3:4 / Landscape · 4:3Sets a standard portrait or landscape card.Useful for consistent mixed-source collections.
SquareMakes a square card.Compare Fill and Fit if the original image is portrait or landscape.
Portrait · 9:16 / Landscape · 16:9Uses a widescreen portrait or landscape card.Match tall or wide content when supported by the template.
Square · Template / Portrait · TemplateShows a proportion fixed by the template.Adjust the image inside the card instead.

Image Zoom increases the crop inside the card.
At Image Zoom 0%, the photo is hidden and the card retains its settings.

Restore a moved source

File missing marks a lost source. Locate File reconnects the saved card to an available file.
  1. Select the card marked File missing.
  2. Choose Locate File. Select the source file at its new location.
  3. Check placement and playback after relinking. Repeat for other missing cards and textures.
  4. Save Scene to keep the updated reference.

Move or rename source files carefully. The HTML’s embedded illustrations are independent of the panel’s saved-scene references.

07 / Mixed photo & video scenes

Media: video inside cards

Use moving sources in sliders, carousels and other compositions.

A card can contain a photograph or a video. You can mix them in the same scene, including rail sliders and cinematic sliders. Add Media accepts MP4, MOV, M4V and WebM video files. The panel prepares a lightweight preview while keeping the original source for final rendering.

A mixed collection: the video card is marked VIDEO and shows its source duration.

Add and select a video

  1. Open Media and choose Add Media or Replace All Media.
  2. Select the clip. Wait for preparation; a progress dialog appears for video importing. Choose Cancel Import if you need to stop.
  3. Select exactly one video card. The Video Playback block appears below Selected Media.
  4. Set the playable interval, loop behavior and start offset. Scrub and play the scene to verify the result.
  5. Use the same Card Aspect, Fill/Fit, image-position, Image Zoom and rotation controls as a photograph.

Video Playback controls

Video Playback is shown when one video card is selected.
Control / optionWhat it doesHow to use it
Loop inside cardRepeats the selected video within its playable interval.Leave enabled for a short clip that should keep moving throughout a longer scene.
Loop inside card · OffStops advancing at the end of the playable interval.Use when the clip should play once and hold its final frame.
Start Offset (seconds)Starts the video farther into its trimmed interval.Use to vary the moment shown when the card first appears. This does not move the card itself.
Trim In (seconds)Sets the beginning of the playable source interval.Move it past footage you do not want to show.
Trim Out (seconds)Sets the end of the playable source interval.End the interval before unwanted tail footage. Leave at least one source frame between Trim In and Trim Out.

For example, Trim In = 1 and Trim Out = 3 uses a two-second source interval. With Loop inside card enabled, that interval repeats independently of the card’s 3D motion. Start Offset changes the initial playback position within it.

Understand the three Loop controls

Control / optionWhat it doesHow to use it
Loop PreviewRepeats the editor’s preview playback.Use it for repeated inspection; it does not change the authored motion.
Loop AnimationAuthors a return to the starting card before the scene ends.Use it when the composition should reconnect its motion at the end.
Loop inside cardRepeats the source video within one card.Use it for the clip’s content, independently of the carousel’s return motion.

Keep the original video available

Short clips can repeat independently. Video preparation can take time, especially for large files or demanding codecs. Preview Quality changes the viewing cost; final rendering reads the original sources. If a saved video scene loses a temporary preview, the panel regenerates it from the original. If the original itself has moved, use Locate File.

08 / Animate the collection

Motion: timing & movement

Choose the motion mode, pacing, direction and authored return.

Motion with Pause on Each Card: duration, loop, direction, transition and available effect controls.

Duration and transitions

Control / optionWhat it doesHow to use it
Total Duration (seconds)Controls the scene’s total time, including In/Out and the authored return when used. Range: 0.1–600 seconds.Give the visible cards and entrance/exit enough time to read. The panel retimes the scene to keep valid display frames.
Transition (seconds)Controls the transition portion between card positions in non-Continuous modes. Range: 0–3 seconds.Use a longer value for slower handoffs; check the balance against total duration.
Loop AnimationReturns to the starting card before the animation ends.Enable to author the return. Test the ending and direction in the preview.
Direction · Forward / ReverseChanges the travel direction through the collection.Choose the direction that suits the composition. It is separate from the Forward Amount effect.

Motion Mode

Control / optionWhat it doesHow to use it
Pause on Each CardMoves between cards and settles on each one.Use for readable product or portfolio presentations.
ContinuousMoves continuously along the composition.Use for a flowing passage. The main Transition and Bounce controls are hidden in this mode.
Staggered SlideOffsets card travel to create a staggered handoff.Use Stagger Amount to tune the offset. Only compatible templates offer this mode.
Soft SwayAdds a gentle decorative sway.Use Motion Amount to set the strength. Only compatible templates offer it.
Wave LiftAdds a lifted wave-like movement to the collection.Use Motion Amount to set the strength. It is separate from Wave Ribbon’s layout Wave Height.
Continuous hides the main Transition and Bounce controls.
Staggered Slide adds Stagger Amount on supported layouts.
Soft Sway adds Motion Amount.
Wave Lift uses Motion Amount for its animated lift.

Effect strength and settling

Perspective Conveyor exposes Lift Height in Motion; it does not offer Forward Amount.
Control / optionWhat it doesHow to use it
Forward Amount · 0–1Emphasizes the front card toward the camera on supported layouts.Start at 0 and increase until the emphasis is clear. It does not choose travel direction.
Lift Height · 0–3Controls the lift in Perspective Conveyor.Use it to change the height of the travelling card’s lift.
Stagger Amount · 0–2Controls the stagger in Staggered Slide.Start around 1, then compare smaller and larger values.

Scenes and exported videos are different

A saved scene is an editable collection of settings and media references. MP4/MOV is the finished rendered output. Source files must stay available for later editing and rendering. Temporary video previews can be recreated from originals; deleting or moving an original can require relinking. Keep your project’s photos, clips and textures together in a stable folder.
